Environmental Graphic Design for Architects & Builders

Branded spaces that feel built-in, not bolted on.

Wedgewood Graphic Design partners with architects, builders, and design-build teams to plan and design environmental graphics—signage, wayfinding, branded walls, and dimensional features—so the final space communicates as beautifully as it functions.

When the space is done… but the brand isn’t

You know the moment: the paint is perfect, the lighting is dialed, the finishes are gorgeous—and then branding, signage, and wayfinding get squeezed into the last few weeks.

That’s where we come in.

Wedgewood helps you bring brand and communication into the built environment early enough to avoid field surprises, rework, and “we’ll figure it out later” decisions. We design with materials, fabrication, code realities, sightlines, and install logistics in mind—and we collaborate with trusted surveyors, print/production teams and installation partners to help carry the work from concept to completion.

What we design for the built environment

We support projects where your client needs the space to work harder—welcoming people, guiding them, reinforcing trust, and creating a memorable brand experience.

You need design that accounts for:

  • substrate conditions and mounting methods
  • lighting, glare, and viewing distance
    finish schedules and lead times
  • vendor coordination and file readiness
  • install sequencing with your build timeline

We stay practical, clear, and collaborative—so the signage and graphics feel like they were always meant to be there.

How we work with your team

We can plug in at different phases depending on your needs:

Concept + Design Intent

We align on goals, audiences, and the role of graphics/signage in the space. Then we develop the creative direction and document design intent so everyone is building toward the same vision.

System Design

We create a cohesive signage/graphics system—typography, hierarchy, materials direction, messaging strategy, and a kit-of-parts approach when needed.

Production-Ready + Coordination

When you want it, we coordinate with trusted fabricators, printers, surveyors, and installers to ensure files, specs, and details are ready for the real world (and the real schedule).

Your plans are solid

Let’s make the experience match

Wedgewood supports your team with environmental graphics, wayfinding, and branded moments that feel intentional from day one—so the finished space reflects the same level of thought as the architecture.

Our Processes

Environmental Graphic Design Support—from Planning to Installation

Wedgewood can step in for the full scope of a project—or support only the phases you need most—on a project-based or hourly basis. Our goal is to plug into your process without adding friction.

We can operate as a seamless extension of your architecture/design-build team (white-label/behind the scenes), or we can be client-facing when it benefits communication and approvals. Either way, our goal stays the same: protect your timeline, reduce back-and-forth, and deliver polished, buildable design solutions that elevate the space and make your team look great.

Discovery + Project Alignment
We start by aligning on goals, audiences, constraints, budget range, timeline, and decision-makers. We review available drawings, brand standards, and any site context so everyone is clear on what success looks like and what’s needed to get there.
Site Understanding (as needed)
When the project calls for it, we conduct a site walk or coordinate a photo/field survey. We document key sightlines, decision points, substrates, lighting conditions, and installation constraints so the design is grounded in real-world conditions.
Strategy + Sign/Graphic Plan
We map how people move through the space and what they need to know at each point. This becomes a practical plan for messaging hierarchy, wayfinding logic, sign types, and preliminary locations—often supported by an early sign schedule framework.
Concept Design
We explore creative directions that fit the architecture and the brand. This includes early mockups of key moments—like a lobby feature wall, mission/values display, donor wall, or dimensional logo—plus initial materials and finish direction.
System Design (Kit-of-Parts)
We build a cohesive system so everything feels consistent across the space (or across multiple locations). This includes typography, layout rules, hierarchy, sign families, sizing logic, and standards that make rollout and future updates easier.
Design Intent Packages/Brand Books
We document the approved direction so your team, the client, and vendors are aligned before production. This typically includes location plans/elevations, visual mockups, and clear intent notes that support estimating and coordination.
Production Development + Vendor Coordination
We collaborate with fabricators/installers (yours or ours) to refine materials, mounting methods, finishes, and specifications. This phase ensures the design translates cleanly into buildable solutions and aligns with lead times and construction sequencing.
Production-Ready Artwork
We prepare final artwork built to exact sizes and vendor requirements, with proper versions, naming, and proofing steps. Nothing moves forward without clear checkpoints and approvals to keep quality and accuracy high.
Installation Support + Closeout
As needed, we support install coordination, answer vendor questions, and help resolve field adjustments. We can also assist with punch-list items, capture final photos, and package standards for future phases or multi-site rollouts.

Partner Perspectives

“During the latter part of my career as a Brand Expert and Environmental Designer Amy was referred to me and we worked on several very successful projects for large Regional Banks in New England. Amy has the unique ability to grasp concepts easily and design specifically to the challenge. Her positive energy and pinpoint design ideas separate her from designers with preconceived notions. Her timely delivery of design solutions was always well received. Amy has a great personality and a fun sense of humor that creates a very positive work experience. I would strongly recommend Amy for any Brand/Graphic communication challenges.”
Jim VanderMale

Executive Vice President, National Accounts , PWCampbell

“Amy and I continue to collaborate on a number of projects. Most notably a high profile project for a west coast financial institution’s newest financial retail environment. Amy handled all aspects of the environmental graphic design and branding elements. This effort required many rounds of review and revisions – many curve balls. All of which were handled diligently and with great creativity. This allowed decisions to be made in a compressed timeline and ultimately made the space great. Looking forward to many more projects together. ”

“I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Amy for more than a decade across many graphic design and branding projects. She’s an exceptionally talented designer with a portfolio that consistently impresses, and her background in project management sets her apart—she understands how to take work from concept through production and implementation, including materials and execution details. I wholeheartedly recommend Amy for her professionalism, creative strength, and practical insight that helps projects run smoothly and finish strong.”
